What is a nutrition label?
This is a nutrition label. Most of the time when we're looking at nutrition labels, we focus on the white box that gives us the nutrition "facts". But what kind of facts are they? They are the facts that the FDA (Food & Drug Administration) deems necessary to be on the box. They allow many gray areas and more than is good for us "allowances" for lower tolerances of chemicals to be in our foods and NOT reported on these labels. So, in other words, most of the time these labels are a lie. I don't mean to shock you, but as we move into the new year and focus on nutrition for the month of January, it's time we explore the cold, hard truth about prepackaged foods.
In our podcast for the first week of the month, we talk about cleaning out the pantry. These reasons are why:
Take a look at the ingredients listed on this box. This product is sold as a KETO product. I'm a certified keto nutritionist and I can very easily tell you this is NOT a keto product. The first ingredient in this product is wheat gluten (a carb), the third ingredient in this product is oat (a carb). Next we have flax which is quite dangerous for women due to the estrogenic nature of flax and the harm it plays on our hormones (its bad estrogen). Then we move to see oils which are toxic by way of becoming rancid when it hits light due to the chemical processing they do to it. The list goes on.
The reality is that 99% of prepackaged, boxed foods have been given some leeway on telling you the truth about what you're eating and sadly, this means that those eating these boxed foods are doing much more harm than good. I implore you to watch this video on label reading (it's about 15 minutes long) and please ask any questions here in the chat.

You will hear much more about this as we move through the month. But the moral of the story.....EAT GOD'S FOOD.
