Why is Sleep so Important?

Not getting enough quality sleep can have serious consequences when it come to our health.

And I think this might surprise you: It can actually effect your weight!

I know, crazy!

BUT, research has proven that lack of sleep can alter your hunger hormones, making you feel hungrier, AND not as full when you do eat. In addition, sleep deprived people tend to choose foods that are higher in carbohydrates, and have trouble with decision making and coordination.

Many studies have also proven that sleep deprivation also leads to metabolic dysregulation, increased oxidative stress, glucose intolerance, AND insulin resistance, which all leads to...you guessed it, weight gain!

So, if you've been doing all the things to loose weight, but you don't address sleep issues, then you might not be getting anywhere. Start prioritizing sleep, and give your body, brain, and soul the rest that you need for your health! Adults should be getting 7-9 hours of sleep every night.
